Authorities said that a 16-year-old girl was traveling westbound, when she lost control and crossed the center line into oncoming traffic.
She has been identified as Sierra Rose Matthews, from Pengilly.
The deputy has been identified as Cory Rondeau, 32, from Grand Rapids.
