Daniel Ray George, 21, killed and one female passenger injured after their car crashes on Goodman Road near Southaven, Mississippi

Daniel Ray George had just celebrated his 21st birthday when he was killed in a car accident involving one other vehicle along Goodman Road near I-55 in Southaven last Thursday night. Daniel's mom and dad say his girlfriend was with him when the crash happened. She is still in the hospital. The grieving parents are now faced with many unanswered questions. "I don't know if I can ever make sense of it," said Daniel's mother, Angel Durbin. "I know, I miss him terribly." Police say it appears that Daniel lost control when he swerved to miss another car. "It seems something went terribly wrong and at a very high rate of speed," said Durbin. "I would love to know what happened." Daniel's dad, Barry George, uses a wheelchair. He lost his leg in an accident and depended on his son for help. "His heart was in the right place, we prayed together," said Barry. "I had him in church. I prayed for my kids every night to make it and be alright." Barry says his son was on his way from his mother's house in Southaven to his house in Drummonds to help finish the roof on the porch. "I can't quit thinking about him. A part of me died the day he died," said Barry. The past few days for Daniel's mom, dad, and sister have been tough. Now, they are working to gather money needed for his funeral. "You learn when you don't have money or certain things just how outrageous trying to bury someone really is," said Durbin. "To all parents: Hug your children, kiss them, tell them you love them before they walk out the door." Daniel's parents are working to set up a fund in his name at First Citizen and Regions banks to help pay for the burial.
