Pedestrian struck, killed in early morning hit-and-run

A 50-year-old man is dead after being struck by a car, that then took off, while crossing the street early Friday morning in northeast Las Vegas.
According to police, the incident happened just before 1:30 a.m. at Meikle Lane and Ringe Road, which is near Lake Mead and Nellis boulevards. A van, headed eastbound on Meikle, hit the man and continued to drive, witnesses told police.

The man, who has not been identified, was taken to UMC where he was pronounced dead.

Police said they are looking for a white cargo-type van with damage to the front right-side. The crash remains under investigation.
