A man was seriously injured early Friday morning after being struck by a car that fled the scene near the Palms, Las Vegas police said.

Part of Flamingo Road was closed during the investigation into the incident. Shortly after 6 a.m., police said it would be reopened soon.
A man believed to be in his 30s was crossing Wynn Road in a crosswalk in front of the Palms casino when he was struck by a car turning east. He was transported to University Medical Center with serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. Police are searching for the car involved in the incident, described as a small, dark-colored compact car. The accident is still under investigation.
