Child hurt in west Las Vegas hit-and-run crash
According to Las Vegas Metro police, the child was struck by a red vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet Aveo, on South Waterview Drive near West Gentle Rain Way, just off Fort Apache Road, at 3:34 p.m. Las Vegas Metro police said a red pickup truck drove away after hitting a 5-year-old child near Fort Apache Road and Lake South Drive on Oct. 2, 2015. (Roger Bryner/FOX5) A 5-year-old child was sent to the hospital after a crash Friday involving a hit-and-run driver in the west Las Vegas Valley. Under the law, drivers who do not stay at the scene after a crash are subject to a mandatory prison sentence. A girl was crossing a roadway with a teenage boy when the victim was struck by the southbound vehicle, police said. Metro confirmed the driver could face a felony charge under the state's new traffic law that went into effect Thursday.
