When they tried to take Griffiths into custody, he allegedly drove off, dragging a police officer for a short distance. Griffiths then struck a pedestrian near the Wawa fuel pumps before leaving the parking lot, officials said. Police pursued the car until Griffiths was involved in a crash at the intersection of Route 49 and Union Road in Maurice River Township, according to the prosecutor’s office.
