The initial investigation indicates that for an unknown reason, John Chavez, 35, of Los Lunas, NM was walking in the southbound lanes of U.S. 285. He was struck by a southbound 2019 Freightliner Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) that was driven by a forty-eight-year-old Albuquerque man.
