According to police, John Aluska was walking on Montauk Highway at approximately 1:20 a.m. when he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling eastbound on Montauk Highway. Aluska, 61, of Lindenhurst, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash or has any other information about the incident to contact the Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
