Pedestrian on scooter Edwin Wesley, 62, killed in hit-and-run collision with alleged driver Todd Smith, 54, on South Main Street in Canandaigua, New York

Police said the man struck was using his motorized scooter to cross the street when that's when he was hit by a green Ford pickup truck.

The Sheriff's Office reports the arrest of Smith was part of a three-week investigation involving the hit-and-run accident that occurred on October 23, 2021 which resulted in the death of 62-year-old Edwin Wesley, a disabled individual who was operating his scooter while crossing South Main Street in a marked crosswalk.
