According to officials, the incident took on North Brightleaf Boulevard and East Market Street in downtown Smithfield.
Many businesses in the area were affected, and some witnesses said they heard a loud 'bang' then the power went out.

At 4:11pm Thursday, Smithfield Police said Michaela Rene Hudson, 25, of Benson was traveling westbound on Hospital Road near Berkshire Road when she ran off the roadway in a 2021 Chevy SUV and collided with a utility pole.
