A bicyclist was critically injured in a collision with a car in Northeast Portland Thursday evening, police said. Officers were called just before 8 p.m. to the crash at Northeast Killingsworth Street and Cully Boulevard. Police and medical responders at the scene found 24-year-old Ryan Egge suffering from traumatic injuries, said Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson. "Investigators learned that Egge was riding his bicycle northbound on Cully Boulevard at a high rate of speed when he cut through a convenience store parking lot on the southwest corner of Cully and Killingsworth and continued riding onto westbound Killingsworth, where he struck a 2013 Dodge Dart," Simpson said. He said Egge was not wearing a helmet and suffered a severe head injury. He was listed in critical condition Friday afternoon, but was expected to survive. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and talked with investigators. She was not impaired or speeding at the time of the crash, Simpson said. The major crash team was investigating.
