According to Portland police, a driver intentionally hit a bicyclist near Portland State University Thursday.

Brian Groce, 47, was riding his bike on Southwest Jackson Street around noon when he said a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta cut him off in traffic.

When Groce stopped at the corner of Jackson Street and Southwest Broadway, he told the driver of the Jetta, 29-year-old Celine Geday, that she’d almost hit him, according to Portland police.

Groce said Geday honked her horn at him in response. Then, when the light turned green, Groce said Geday swerved and knocked him off his bike before stopping her car.

Assault detectives said information from Grose and independent witnesses indicated the crash was intentional.

Geday was arrested for assault and taken to the Multnomah County Jail.

On Thursday afternoon, Multnomah County Court Docketing said charges against Geday had been dismissed.
