OSP investigates Athena traffic crash injured Pendleton couple.
Oregon State Police continues to investigate a serious injury traffic crash that happened Thursday afternoon along Highway 11 near Athena in Umatilla County.
The crash was reported shortly before 12:55 p.m., when a 1996 Honda Civic driven by Gregory Murray, 44, of Milton-Freewater, was heading southbound on the highway near milepost 15.
The Civic was passing several vehicles when it faced a northbound 1996 Toyota Camry, driven by Jim Rasmussen, 77, of Pendleton. Both drivers took evasive action but collided in the vicinity of the northbound lanes and shoulder, said a OSP spokesman.
Murray and his adult female passenger received minor injuries that did not require hospital transport.
Rasmussen and his passenger, 74-year-old Donna Rasmussen, received serious but non-life threatening injuries.
They were taken to St. Anthony Hospital for treatment.
