Initial investigation found that a Kia minivan was travelling northbound on South Salem Church Road. At the same time four juvenile males were walking/standing along the shoulder of the roadway with an elliptical machine. The minivan collided with the elliptical machine and one of the juveniles.
Community remembers 13-year-old struck, killed by vehicle in Dover Township
According to his friends, Gowen was an eighth grader at Dover Intermediate School. On Friday the school had grief counselors on hand for students.

The vigil is planned for 7:45 p.m. in the community park down the hill from Dover Intermediate School, where Matthew Gowen was in the eighth grade.
