A single-engine plane that crashed late Monday night in South Middleton Township was headed for the Carlisle Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
A single-engine plane that crashed late Monday night in South Middleton Township was headed for the Carlisle Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The Cessna 172 crashed at approximately 11 p.m. at the intersection of Forge and Hunter roads. The crash site is less than a mile from the airport. The pilot of the plane was seriously injured in the crash and was airlifted to the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, according to John Bruetsch, Cumberland County public information officer. His identity and condition had yet to be released Tuesday morning. Bruetsch said the pilot, the plane’s lone occupant, did a great job putting the plane down in the middle of a street lined by several homes. What caused the plane to crash was still not known Tuesday morning. The FAA is investigating.
