Car hits pedestrian in Mt. Lebanon business district.

A man suffered head injuries when he was struck by a car Tuesday night in Mt. Lebanon. Police say Michael Joseph Puccio, 30, remains in critical condition after he was hit by an SUV while attempting to cross Washington Road in an area where there are no crosswalks. "He was crossing Washington Road, wearing dark clothing, according to witness statements. The driver traveling north didn't see him and struck him," said Police Chief Coleman McDonough. The name of the 17-year-old driver is not being released. Police say right now they have no plans to file charges. The accident happened in the 700 block of Washington Road at about 8:30 p.m. Police kept the road shut down while they processed the scene. Debris and some clothing were scattered in the middle of the road. Witnesses told police that the driver was headed north in the left lane when the man attempted to cross the street.
