A 2-year-old boy was injured after being thrown out of a car during a crash in Christiana Monday night.
The crash happened on Highway 231 near McKaig Road just after 7 p.m.
Police say the driver of a Chevy Silverado slammed into the back of the Nissan Maxima the child was in, causing the car to go off the left side of the road and eject the boy.
The Silverado then hit a Freightliner tractor-trailer before going off the right side of the road.
The child and the driver of the Silverado, 47-year-old Rodello Cenizal, were taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The driver of the Maxima, 35-year-old Josh Carney, was taken to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital by ambulance.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
Police say the child was properly restrained at the time of the crash, but the seat belt appears to have failed.
