Motorcyclist killed in crash on I-24 East in Rutherford County.

A motorcyclist was killed when officials say he crashed his bike into a minivan on eastbound Interstate 24 Monday night.

A motorcyclist was killed when officials say he crashed his bike into a minivan on eastbound Interstate 24 Monday night.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol report, witnesses say 27-year-old Robert Sullivan was driving behind a Dodge Caravan at a high rate of speed before he crashed into the minivan near mile marker 79 at 8:45 p.m.

The motorcycle caught on fire, and Sullivan was killed in the crash.

The driver of the minivan, 42-year-old Berma Ussery, is said to have been injured. Her three passengers, all children, were not injured in the crash.

The wreck shut down the interstate for hours but has since reopened.
