Janice Merrick, 59, arrested on multiple charges, including DUI, after her car crashes into a golf cart with two passengers, in Nashville.
Woman accused of driving drunk, trying to bribe officer.
A Davidson County woman is accused of trying to bribe a Metro officer to get out of a DUI charge after police say she crashed her car into a golf cart on Broadway.
The crash happened near 1st Avenue on Sunday.
Police say the woman behind the wheel of the car was honking and flipped the bird at the men in the golf cart before hitting the accelerator, crashing into them.
The driver, Janice Merrick, was given several DUI tests.
Police say the 59-year-old was so drunk that she could not walk or stand straight.
The arresting officer says Merrick told him she worked for the federal government for 35 years and offered to pay $500 if he would drop her off at home. She allegedly told police to go find a "real criminal" upon her arrest.
Merrick was taken to the Metro jail and faces five charges, including DUI, aggravated assault using a deadly weapon and bribery of a public servant.
The men in the golf cart, who are both in their mid-20s, were checked out for potential back injuries.
