Pedestrian struck, killed on East Stone Drive

Kingsport Police Department patrol officers responded to the stretch of roadway in front of Hardee’s Restaurant, located at 1405 East Stone Drive, shortly after 7:30 p.m. A pedestrian was crossing East Stone Drive in a north-to-south direction. According to the release, Hodge said he realized he had struck something but was not initially sure what it was. According to a KPD news release, a silver 2003 Honda CRV driven by Jamie Jason Hodge, of Kingsport, was eastbound in the 1400 block of East Stone Drive in the far right lane. He indicated that he traveled a short distance, turned around, went back to investigate and realized that he had struck the pedestrian.

According to a KPD news release, a silver 2003 Honda CRV, driven by Jamie Jason Hodge, 42, of Kingsport, was eastbound on Stone Drive in the far right lane. A pedestrian, identified as Charles F. Garrett, 56, of Bristol, Tenn., was crossing Stone Drive in a north to south direction.
