Gusts on I-15 at the Point of the Mountain and across the state are over 60 mph and drivers are urged to use caution, UDOT tweeted. An 82 mph windgust was reported just east of Dugway.

“The red car ran into the back of a semi that was stopped. The silver car ran into the back of that car and then was also ran into the back of by a semi, so it was basically sandwiched between stopped vehicles ahead and the semi from behind,” the UHP representative said about the fatal crash.

Robert John Eggli, 65, was killed in in the crash caused by heavy windsTuesday on westbound I-80 near the small town of Delle, the Utah Highway Patrol confirmed.

A semi that was ahead of several passenger vehicles on I-80 in Tooele attempted to slow down after seeing inclement conditions due to high winds in the area. Due to the low visibility, several of the vehicles behind the slowing semi crashed into it near mile marker 68. A second semi then crashed into these passenger vehicles from behind. The accident involved a total of at least six semitrucks and 11 passenger vehicles. A man in his 50s in one of the passenger vehicles was killed, and at least 25 people were injured. Of the injured, 18 were hospitalized.
