When officers arrived on scene, they met with the driver who told police she veered off the road in an attempt to avoid striking a deer.
A woman was driving sometime before 2:30 a.m. on the 4200 block of Rotunda Avenue in Bowers Hill in Chesapeake when she swerved to avoid hitting a deer, causing her Volkswagon Passat to go off the road and hit a tree. Her 13-year-old son was killed in the wreck. The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
