A 20-year-old York County man was killed Monday night in a head-on crash on Wolf Trap Road, a Virginia State Police spokeswoman said.
Christopher Michael Crawford, of the 100 block of Winsome Haven Drive in the Seaford area of the county, died from injuries after being ejected from his 2003 Nissan Sentra during a head-on collision in the 1500 block of Wolf Trap Road, a State police spokeswoman said in an email.
State police were called to the area after 10 p.m. to assist the York-Poquoson Sheriff's Office with the two-vehicle crash, police said.
An investigation revealed that Crawford was driving northbound on Wolf Trap Road in a Nissan Sentra when he lost control and careened into the southbound lane and into the path of a 2009 Toyota Corolla, Anaya said. The driver of the Toyota, an unidentified 17-year-old, suffered minor injuries in the accident.
Both Crawford and and the teen were taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News for treatment. Crawford died from his injuries at the hospital, police said.
An investigation into the crash is on-going. police said police have determined Crawford was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Police also believe speed and alcohol may have played a part in the crash.
