Man charged with homicide after crash kills 4-year-old son in Carroll County

Troopers allege Woolwine first rear-ended a vehicle while traveling north in a Dodge van and fled the scene by turning around. About 1/10 of a mile south of the first crash, the van ran off the road, hit a tree and overturned back into the road, troopers said.

“The 2000 Dodge Van driven by Woolwine then went southbound on 52, leaving the scene before running off the road to the right, striking a tree and rolling back onto 52’s travel lanes before coming to rest on its top,” Horton said.
Christopher Dean Woolwine allegedly rear-ended a vehicle, then fled the scene. While fleeing, he lost control of his van and drove off the roadway, striking a tree. His four year old son was in a booster seat in the car and died from injuries sustained in the wreck. Authorities say alcohol was a factor in the crash, and the Woolwine was driving with a suspended license. The crash remains under investigation.
