3 dead after crash on I-95 near Dale City, express lanes closed for over 6 hours
It happened after 4:30 p.m. as a 2008 Dodge Avenger, traveling north on I-95, reached a high rate of speed. According to police, the driver was traveling 80 mph in a 65 mph zone and attempted to pull the vehicle over.

Later, police state the Dodge exited I-95 for the Express Lanes but then broke through three of the lighted Express Lanes gates at the entry as it headed north into the lanes that were switched for southbound traffic only.

Once inside the Express Lanes, the Dodge struck a 2020 Ford Ranger pickup truck head-on in Prince William County. The truck landed on its side over the guardrail. Then, a 2016 Hyundai Tucson and a 2021 Volkswagen Atlas collided with the Dodge, causing the Dodge to catch fire.
3 dead in I-95 crash following police pursuit
Police tried to intercept the Dodge further north on the highway, where the pursuit resumed. Police say the still-speeding car broke through three barriers into E-Z Pass Express lanes, which were southbound at the time.

Driver blamed in wrong-way, triple-fatal crash on I-95 had no license and a warrant for her arrest
The charge was the latest of a string of traffic infractions on Morton’s criminal record dating back to 1996. Morton had been charged with driving without a license at least five times since 2017, court records show.
