The patrol report says a silver 1998 BMW 540 sedan was northbound on the highway at milepost 3.5 and a blue 2002 Dodge Neon sedan was southbound on the same road when the BMW passed another vehicle, not involved in the accident, and smashed into the Dodge Neon in the southbound lane.
