James was a passenger in a 1999 Honda Civic driving on Willow Road SE where it intersects with SE Spruce Road. Investigators don’t know if the Honda drove through the stop sign without stopping, or stopped but did not adequately check for oncoming traffic, but it drove onto Spruce Road and it was struck by a 2008 Ford F-150 traveling westbound. The cause of the wreck was the Honda failing to yield the right-of-way.
