A 17-year-old skateboarder who was critically injured in a hit-and-run on Sunday has died from his injuries. Andrew Finnell was pronounced dead Tuesday morning.

Renton skateboarder dies after hit-run; suspect appears in court

The suspect appeared in court on Tuesday and a judge found probable cause to conclude that the offense had been committed. Because of the boy’s age, the judge released him into the custody of his parents. The judge ordered him to not have any contact with Finnell’s brother or a friend who was present at the crash. 

Teen charged in Renton hit-and-run death

Cops found the defendant, who admitted to hitting Finnell and taking off. They booked him into juvenile detention.

Witnesses called 911 to report a hit-and-run collision involving a 17-year old boy who was struck by a newer model Dodge Magnum while skateboarding. Police found the suspect’s vehicle and identified the driver who had been behind the wheel as a 16-year-old boy from Renton. Finnell was taken to the hospital, but later died from his injuries. The hit-and-run suspect is in custody at the King County Juvenile Detention Facility.
