Two people died and seven others were injured in a two-vehicle crash near Mattawa Sunday night. Juan Gonzalez, 65, and Maria Gonzalez Hernandez, 29, both of Mattawa, were deceased at the crash site. Roman Rodriguez 42, of Mattawa, was traveling north on Road R-Southwest around 10 p.m. when his Hyundai Elantra failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into a Honda Civic traveling west on Road 24. The people who died were passengers in Rodriguez’s vehicle. Rodriguez was transported to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. Martha Hernandez, 59, of Mattawa, was airlifted to Kadlec Medical Center in Richland where she was listed in critical condition. Two boys in the car, ages 8 and 4, were transported to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the other car, Emiliano Bravo, 45, of Mattawa, and his two passengers, Estella Machuca, 57, and Rufina Bravo, 41, were all injured in the crash and transported to local hospitals.
