Woman struck, killed by sheriff's vehicle while lying in roadway
A woman is dead after she was hit by a Yakima County sheriff's vehicle Saturday night while lying in the street near Toppenish, the Washington State Patrol reports. Troopers and medics responded to the scene, at Fort Road and Becker Road, at about 10 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of a person being struck by a vehicle.
