Four Ohio residents killed in wrong-way crash on Turnpike
An Ohio family of eight was traveling north on the West Virginia Turnpike when their Ford Explorer SUV was hit head on by a Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up truck traveling south in the northbound lane, troopers said.

The Ram's driver was identified as 35-year-old Cory Sheward of Ohio, who suffered serious injuries. On Monday afternoon his condition and hospital location were not disclosed.

West Virginia State Police Lieutenant Michael Baylous tells WSAZ the family was traveling back from Disney World when the crash happened.
Maxine Wade, 27, and Carlisa Crowell, 29, both of Grove City, Ohio died.
A 9-year-old girl and a 6-year-old girl were also killed.

Police expect to charge Sheward with four counts each of driving under the influence causing death and causing bodily injury, Baylous said. He was in the hospital as of Tuesday morning and hadn’t yet been charged, he said.

“He was right down the middle, no high beams, no horn, no ‘Oops this is an accident sorry I’m going the wrong way,’ nothing, flying down and I saw his tail lights disappear and he was gone,” Michaud recalled the near miss Wednesday on MetroNews “Talkline.”
