Driver killed, passenger seriously injured, taken to hospital, after crash on icy Beaver Dam bridge.
The driver of a car has been killed in a collision with a pickup on Highway 2 near Snohomish. The Washington State Patrol says the car crossed the center line and hit the truck head-on about 5 a.m. Monday near the intersection with Highway 9. The driver of the car died at the scene and the pickup driver was taken to an Everett hospital in serious condition. A State Trooper stated that investigators are looking into the cause of the crash but there was heavy frost on the ground and roads around Snohomish County were slick.
One person was killed when their car caught on fire after striking another vehicle on Barkley Boulevard Sunday morning, Jan. 5. One vehicle was headed down the hill on Barkley Boulevard around 9:55 a.m. when it slid on the icy road, crossed the centerline and hit another car headed up the hill. The downhill car caught on fire, and witnesses were unable to help the driver out of the vehicle before it was engulfed in flames. That driver died at the scene, and the other driver was not injured.
A pedestrian was hit by a car and killed on snowy roads Saturday night. It happened just after 11 p.m. on M-37 near Butler Road in Baltimore Township in Barry County, according to Michigan State Police. The victim has been identified as Timothy Charles Nixon, 50, of Hastings. The driver was a 16-year-old from Hastings. Before the crash, Barry Central Dispatch had received a call about a man in dark clothing walking in the road near the area of the collision, MSP said. It was only a minute later that dispatchers received a call about the crash that killed Nixon.
