The motorcycle was on the southbound on-ramp of Interstate 5 from the West Seattle Bridge just after 1 a.m. The ramp curves sharply and the motorcycle was going too fast to successfully complete the curve. The crash ejected the female passenger over the ramp on the left side, where luckily she landed in netting installed between the two. A man who died after a crash on Interstate 5 was identified Thursday as a 69-year-old Carlsbad resident Nicholas Anthony Dicarlo. Dicarlo was heading south about 2:40 p.m. near Harbor Drive in a Lexus IS 350 when one of the car’s tires blew out, the California Highway Patrol said. Dicarlo lost control of the car which veered toward the shoulder and off the highway where it slammed into a tree, the CHP said. Dicarlo, who had to be cut out of the wrecked car by firefighters, was taken to a hospital but he became unresponsive en route and was pronounced dead at the emergency room.

A 29-year-old San Diego man was found dead early Monday after apparently crashing into some trees on an embankment behind a business off Interstate 5 in Chula Vista.

David Antonio Sanchez's car appeared to have veered off the southbound freeway and rolled down an embankment before slamming into the trees and damaging a chain link fence on the back side of an industrial complex at 1095 Bay Blvd., north of Palomar Street, according to police and the county Medical Examiner's Office.

A 48-year-old Dallas, Oregon man died in a fiery crash on Interstate 5 south of Wilsonville Friday.

Lt. Gregg Hastings, an Oregon State Police spokesman, said a northbound 1993 Buick Regal went off the road near Milepost 281, about three miles south of Wilsonville, around 11:55 a.m.

He said the car went through the shoulder, through grass for about 200 feet and crashed into a tree. The car then burst into flames.

The driver, identified as Emuel James Smothers, died at the scene. Hastings said the crash remains under investigation.

Authorities have identified the Oregon motorcycle rider who died after a high speed crash on the highway in Salem.

Oregon State Police say 53-year old David Leary Schneller of Tualatin lost control of his Harley Davidson bike Friday night while passing other vehicles on Interstate 5 at about 90 to 95 miles per hour.

A state trooper who witnessed the crash saw the rider being ejected from the motorcycle as it crashed in the center northbound lane.

Oregon State Police say a 50-year-old man who was killed after he walked into the path of traffic on Interstate 5 near Roseburg had an apparent history of mental illness.

Charles P. Earwood, of Roseburg, was struck Saturday afternoon by a commercial truck driving northbound on the highway, said Lt. Gregg Hastings, a state police spokesman. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near milepost 126.

The pickup truck involved in a fatal crash on Interstate 5 south of Eugene had been stolen in the Portland area.

Oregon State Police say the pickup hit a disabled semi-truck on the shoulder Tuesday morning.

A passenger in the pickup died at the scene. She was identified as 22-year-old Christina Marie Armstrong. KVAL reports she had recently moved to Portland from Cape Coral, Florida.

The Washington State Patrol says a wrong-way driver was responsible for a crash early Friday on Interstate 5 near Lacey. The patrol said Michael R. McDonald, 44, of Longbranch was driving a 2013 Hyundai north in the southbound lanes for three miles before hitting Saul Cabreracarillo, 47, of Seattle at the Nisqually Exit 114. Both drivers and a passenger in Cabreracarillo’s car were injured, and the southbound lanes were closed for about three hours. The patrol said the wrong-way driver was booked into the Thurston County Jail for investigation of vehicular assault.
