A Miami-Dade Police Officer is facing DUI charges after he knocked over a shopping cart containing two children in a parking lot while off-duty, officials said. Ryan Robinson, 41, was arrested on charges of DUI, DUI property damage and DUI causing serious bodily injury in the incident that happened Saturday night at the Publix parking lot at 20425 Old Cutler Road, according to a Miami-Dade Police news release.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a serious crash on State Road 16 in the area of Lewis Speedway. A spokesman with FHP said two SUVs struck each other head-on around 10 p.m. Friday. Police said an SUV was traveling east on SR-16 at a high speed when it hit a curb, lost control and crossed over into oncoming traffic. Two occupants in that SUV, James Hamlin, 30, and Terresa Tomlinson, 58, were airlifted to UF Health in Jacksonville in serious condition.

Authorities say two girls were injured following a school bus crash in Stanton County. The Stanton County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened Friday morning near Norfolk. The girls, ages 8 and 9, were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Additional information was not released. Authorities say the bus was carrying 20 students and headed to a school in nearby Leigh. The driver lost control and the vehicle rolled onto its side into a creek bed. A third student was treated at the Leigh school for possible injuries from the crash.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department is looking for a white sedan that fled an accident where an 8-year-old boy riding a bicycle was struck and injured Thursday evening. The boy, who was wearing a helmet and was in a marked crosswalk on the northwest side, was in serious but stable condition at University of Arizona Medical Center, said a Northwest Fire District spokesman. The boy's injuries are non-life threatening. "His injuries were reduced because he was wearing a helmet, and that helped save his life," the fire dept. said.

Eleven people are being treated for injuries after a school bus from Rowan County was involved in a crash in south Charlotte on Friday. According to MEDIC, the bus crashed along the 5700 block of Providence Road around 11 a.m. This is near Shalom Park. Eleven people are being treated for injuries. Most of the injuries are considered to be minor. The students were from Rowan County and were on a field trip to the Jewish Community Center (JCC) when the crash occurred. The bus driver backed up the school bus and hit a wall. No one was seriously injured in the crash.

An emotional gathering took place outside Memorial Hermann Hospital where little league baseball players trekked Friday to support one of their own. Gabe Rojas is being treated for a badly broken leg. The 11-year-old and his best friend Jartis Soloman were both sent to the hospital after they were hit by a car on Wednesday. “His spirits are high right now,” said David Rojas, Gabe’s father. “He’s a very strong kid. He’s fighting.” The accident happened at the Rojas’ home while the two boys were playing basketball in the driveway.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol says eight students were on a bus headed to Nashville Elementary School when it overturned around 7:30 Wednesday morning. It happened on Boddie Mill Pond Road a mile west of NC-58 in Nash County. Troopers said the bus driver reported he had problems with the vehicle's steering system and he could not keep it under control. The bus went down an embankment and overturned in a ravine.

A girl in a stroller was critically injured after being hit by a car in the parking lot of a hospital early Wednesday morning. Her mother was also injured, and the driver was charged with DWI. Melissa Flynn and her daughter Aubrey were injured around 2:45 a.m. at the Alamance Regional Medical Center emergency room off Huffman Mill Road. Both were rushed to the nearby emergency room, which was their intended destination before the collision, Burlington police said.

Nearly two dozen students were injured in northeast Missouri on Tuesday when a school bus overturned in a ditch on a rural road near the Illinois border, the state Highway Patrol reported. The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday north of Ewing in Lewis County. The injured students attended Highland Elementary and Highland High schools in the Lewis County C-1 District. Missouri State Highway Patrol Lt. Brian Anderson said the bus rolled over into a ditch on a two-lane road with no shoulders. Eighteen students suffered minor injuries and five were more seriously hurt, he said.

A 6-year-old Lynden boy was killed in a one-car crash Monday afternoon on Highway 11 near Bow in Skagit County. Zachary Conzo was riding in a car, driven by his mother, which left the highway on a hairpin curve, overturned and landed on its top about 40 feet below in Oyster Creek. The mother, 35-year-old Kristin Conzo of Lynden, was critically injured and flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
