The Pima County Sheriff's Department is looking for a white sedan that fled an accident where an 8-year-old boy riding a bicycle was struck and injured Thursday evening. The boy, who was wearing a helmet and was in a marked crosswalk on the northwest side, was in serious but stable condition at University of Arizona Medical Center, said a Northwest Fire District spokesman. The boy's injuries are non-life threatening. "His injuries were reduced because he was wearing a helmet, and that helped save his life," the fire dept. said. Paramedics were dispatched at 6:17 p.m. to the hit-and-run on West Curtis Road at North Shannon Road, said the fire department spokesman. Investigators said the boy was crossing at the intersection with crossing lights activated and was riding with an adult when he was hit, said a sheriff's department spokeswoman.
