A man and five children were hurt in a single-vehicle crash Friday on the Far South Side. A 2000 Ford Expedition was travelling west on 103rd Street about 9:50 a.m. when it turned right onto South Cottage Grove Avenue, lost control and hit a light pole, police said. The driver, an 18-year-old man, and four girls–a 6-year-old, a 7-year-old and two 14-year-olds–were taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital in good condition, police said. A 3-year-old girl was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in good condition, police said.

Oberlin Police and fire responded to an accident involving two school buses at approximately 12:04 p.m. Thursday. Students from Lorain County JVS were being transported back to school from a field trip when the accident occurred. 69 people were on the bus, mostly students. One school bus rear-ended the other bus, causing the accident. The accident happened in front of the Oberlin fire station, making it easy for fire crews to respond.

Metro Police are investigating a three-car crash where one of the drivers was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. The driver was taken to University Medical Center where the person died, police said. According to police, the crash happened at Rainbow Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue at around 5:20 p.m. Tuesday. Police stated that they have not ruled out that the incident is related to road rage. They also say that two children were in the car with the victim. Westbound Tropicana Avenue is closed at Rainbow Boulevard while officers investigate the incident.

A chaotic scene unfolded in Coeur d’Alene this morning after a woman, Identified as Kara L. Powers 33, reportedly caused a crash, stole a car with three children inside and then caused another crash. The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash at Silver Beach Loop Road and Coeur d’Alene Lake Drive at 7:30 a.m. this morning. A silver Mercedes SUV was reportedly driving east in the westbound lane and hit a Subaru driven by a 61-year-old Coeur d’Alene woman. An uninvolved driver with three children in her Volvo stopped to help.

NOPD says five children sustained minor injuries in a school bus crash in Gentilly. The crash happened before 8 a.m. at the intersection of Franklin and Prentiss avenues when the bus backed into a car, according to police. Five students were being checked out by medical personnel. The rest of the children were placed on another bus and taken to school.

A West Hartford mother faces drunken driving and risk of injury to a minor charges after Canton police stopped her Monday. Christine Cornachio, 50, was released and is to be arraigned Jan. 29 at Superior Court in Hartford for the drunken driving case and Jan. 30 for the risk of injury to a minor case. Canton police said they had been alerted by Winsted police to be on the lookout for a car that had been involved in an accident that left the scene. Winsted police also said the car's driver appeared to be intoxicated and had two children in the car. Police said the children were Cornachio's.

A 7-year-old boy has died after the electric scooter he was operating collided with a pickup truck in a South Texas accident. New Braunfels police say a preliminary investigation shows Annon Snider drove in front of the truck in a neighborhood. Investigators say the New Braunfels boy was dead at the scene Monday afternoon. Police say the truck driver remained at the accident site and no charges were immediately filed. Police do not believe alcohol or speed played a role in the deadly wreck.

A 13-year-old boy was in the hospital Tuesday after he was injured in a hit-and-run crash. The accident happened Monday night near Pulaski and Congress in Garfield Park. The 13-year old was crossing the street around 7 p.m. when police say the driver hit the boy, then took off down Pulaski heading south. The boy was taken in serious-to-critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, a Chicago Fire Department Media Affairs spokesman said. Area North detectives are investigating.

A woman and two children who were traveling in the second vehicle, an SUV, were transported to area hospital, but their injuries are not considered life-threatening, MetroSafe said. The woman was taken to University Hospital; the two children to Kosair Children's Hospital. The crash occurred on U.S. 42 at Woodstone Way at 3:03 p.m. U.S. was closed in both directions, from Wolf Pen Branch Road to Seminary Drive for more than an hour but has since reopened.

A 20-year-old West Palm Beach man is facing criminal charges after police say he lost control of the car he was driving and crashed into a parked car, injuring his child who was in the front unrestrained. Amonzo Shelton was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on Sunday and released under supervision Monday, jail records show. He faces charges of driving with a suspended license, reckless driving causing serious bodily injury, and child neglect. Riviera Beach police were called around 12:15 p.m. Sunday to the 700 block of West First Street in response to a traffic crash.
