A pickup truck, big rig and jeep were involved in a collision that snarled Thursday evening traffic on Interstate 5 northbound, north of the Battle Ground exit. Allen J. Moditz, 51, of Ridgefield was driving a jeep north on the interstate when he attempted to pass a pickup truck that was driving in the left lane, said Trooper Will Finn, spokesman for the Washington State Patrol. Both cars went to change lanes at the same time. The big rig, which was hauling milk, got involved and pushed the jeep through the cable barrier off the side of the road.
The driver of a pickup truck was attempting to pass a tractor-trailer in heavy fog on State Route 548 early Tuesday when he plowed head-on into an oncoming car, killing himself and the 18-year-old woman driving the car, the Washington State Patrol said. The pickup truck was being driven by Wesley B. Martin, 39, of Gautier, Miss. He was dead at the scene, the State Patrol said. Martin was driving eastbound on SR 548 east of Kickerville Road when he attempted to pass a semi in heavy fog, the State Patrol said.

Early Sunday morning, a three-vehicle collision resulted in the death of a semi driver on southbound Interstate 5 near 336th St. in Federal Way. A 21-year-old Renton man was driving a Nissan Altima southbound on I-5 at about 2 a.m. when he lost control and struck a barrier. A Toyota Camry being driven by a 24-year-old Tacoma woman hit the Altima, pushing the Altima into the other lane.
