The husband of a St. Petersburg woman who was killed Monday morning after driving into a retention pond near her home, says his wife called him shortly before she died and told him she was cut off by another driver. James Wolfe was very upset about what happened to his wife, Jennifer Lee Wolfe, 35, when he spoke to the media He said that his wife had called him on her way back from Walmart to say she had driven into a retention pond near their home after being cut off by driver on 28th Street North. Wolfe says, when heard from his wife she was frantic.

Investigators with the St. Petersburg Police Department are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the driver of a vehicle that fled a fatal hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 3:10 a.m. just north of the crosswalk at the intersection of 5th Ave. North and 4th St. According to a SPPD report an unidentified man was walking east from the west side of 4th St. when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. The pedestrian was thrown onto the hood and into the windshield before he was ejected onto the pavement.

A passenger died after a car overturned on 71st Street near 50th Avenue N Wednesday morning. A Florida Highway Patrol spokesman said Fielden B. Odell, 31 of Largo was driving a Dodge Ram truck south on 71st Street N and approaching 50th Avenue N about 7:40 a.m. Wednesday. Odell tried to pass another vehicle heading in the same direction, and hit the shoulder of the road. He overcorrected, travelled back across the street and rotated clockwise, according to the F.H.P. The truck then hit a culvert, flew into the air, turned over and hit a utility pole.
