Tuesday, December 16, 2014A man was killed in a single-vehicle crash that occurred in the 2100 block of Yerba Buena Road at Chisin Street when a stolen vehicle crashed into a power pole. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the road will be closed until 1 p.m.

Tuesday, November 11, 2014Rogelia Ochoa Lino was struck and killed shortly before 4:30 p.m. in the area of Barberry Lane and South King Road in east San Jose. The driver, 40-year-old Jaime Fernandez, stopped after the collision. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter and is currently being held in Santa Clara County jail.

Monday, October 27, 2014A hit-and-run collision involving two San Jose State University students happened around 1 a.m. on fraternity row, along south 10th Street near East San Fernando. Solomon Friese was driving drunk and struck a pedestrian who was crossing the street. The victim has been identified as Chi Lam. Police reported Monday afternoon that he died at a local hospital. Friese sped off after hitting Lam but crashed his car into another parked vehicle two blocks away and was later arrested at his apartment.

Friday, October 24, 2014A motorcyclist who died Friday night after an accident on northbound Highway 101 at the Oakland Road offramp has been identified as Kenneth Johnson, 54, of Los Gatos. The accident was reported around 6:40 p.m. and traffic was diverted off the freeway's northbound lanes onto the 13th Street offramp for almost three hours while the California Highway Patrol investigated the accident site.

Friday, October 17, 2014San Jose police received reports of a single vehicle crash in the area of Blossom Hill Road and Waltrip Lane at 11:38 p.m. Responding officers found a vehicle crushed against a cement sign with a man and woman both trapped inside. Fire crews and paramedics responded to the scene, removing the woman from the car and sending her to a local hospital for treatment. The man was identified as James Edward Navarro Jr., 24, of San Jose, CA.

Wednesday, October 15, 2014The crash on southbound I-280 in San Jose occurred at around 5:15 a.m. Wednesday when BMW spun out and then a truck carrying portable toilets struck it, as did several other vehicles. Luckily, the toilets on the truck were not carrying sewage at the time of the crash but did contain dozens of gallons of blue deodorizer that spilled. All reported injuries appeared to be minor.

Monday, October 13, 2014A woman, whose name has not yet been released, died following a hit-and-run in east San Jose, California. The incident occured on McKee Road near North 33rd Street when an SUV struck her and left the scene around 8:00 p.m. Monday night, October 13. The driver of the SUV has not yet been found.

Monday, October 13, 2014Melissa Vasquez, 28, lost control of her Chevrolet Cruze around 2 p.m. Monday and drove off the road east of San Jose, California into a 500-foot ravine. At 3 a.m. on Tuesday morning, Vasquez's family called the police to report her missing after she failed to return home. Police were able to locate Vasquez using Vasquez's iPad with the "Find My iPhone" app installed on it. By 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter responded and transported Vasquez to Regional Medical Center, where police say she is in stable condition. She suffered from leg and abdominal injuries.

Wednesday, September 24, 2014Samprath was declared dead at the scene of the crash. The driver who hit him stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, and neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
