Around 2 p.m., a 65-year-old man from Cooper Township was driving northbound on N. Riverview Drive when he lost control of his car and crossed over into southbound lanes, then left the roadway and struck a tree. He was pronounced dead at he scene. A body was discovered floating in a pond near a crashed car in the Country Meadows neighborhood on Pinto Drive near 76th Street and Kraft Avenue at around 7:30 a.m. Friday. The victim was identifies as Peter Reed. The Kent County Sheriff’s Department believes the accident happened sometime Thursday night. A medical issue may have been at play, but the crash is under investigation. We'll update this story with any new information we receive.

Steven Thiher was driving an SUV on Highway 218 when his vehicle entered the median, crossed the Northbound lanes, and went into a farm field on the side of the highway. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. His condition has not been released.

William Fredrick Evans Jr. was driving erratically and at a high rate of speed on Highway 31 at 10:50 p.m. when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a traffic sign, then crossed Morris Majestic Road and hit a tree. Witnesses believe he may have been experiencing a medical emergency at the time of the crash. He was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

It was about 1:00pm when Farmer was driving a pickup truck northbound on Highway 253 and began to veer off of the roadway. After colliding with a culvert and numerous mailboxes, Farmer finally crashed into a tree and was pronounced dead at the scene. It is uncertain what caused Farmer to depart the roadway.

At the intersection of Third Street and B Street, a Volvo sedan and a Ford SUV collided at about 2:30pm. The collision sent the SUV tumbling and it rolled onto the sidewalk, killing one woman who has not been identified. The driver of the Ford, Daniel Borbely, 72, and the driver of the Volvo, David Nelson, 94, were taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. At around 9:00am, an 80-year-old man was driving a car with three other passengers southbound on I-5 when he lost control of the vehicle and it departed the roadway and rolled over. All four occupants of the vehicle were removed from the vehicle and taken to the hospital, though all injuries appeared to minor. We will update this accident as more information is released.

At about 9:00 am, Dempewolf was traveling east on Highway 12 when he veered off the right shoulder, overcorrected, and veered off the left shoulder before finally striking a rock. Dempewolf was hurt and taken to the hospital, though further details on his condition weren't available. The crash was likely simply caused by inattentive driving according to authorities, and Dempewolf will probably not be cited.

In the afternoon, Petrocci was driving on State Route 5 when his car went off the road, struck a guardrail, and flipped. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe he either suffered a medical emergency or fell asleep at the wheel.

 An SUV driver died Friday after veering off southbound I-5 in Josephine County, Oregon, and crashing into a tree head-on. Speed may have been a factor in the crash.
