83-year-old man dead after single-car crash in Jefferson County(link is external)

The crash happened at 10:52 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Morris Majestic Road and Highway 31 in Morris. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the victim as William Fredrick Evans Jr.
William Fredrick Evans Jr. was driving erratically and at a high rate of speed on Highway 31 at 10:50 p.m. when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a traffic sign, then crossed Morris Majestic Road and hit a tree. Witnesses believe he may have been experiencing a medical emergency at the time of the crash. He was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
