Two men died Friday after a head-on collision on U.S. 183 in Custer County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported. About 4:50 p.m., Shaun Elston, 24, of Clinton, was driving south about two miles north of Arapaho when his vehicle hit the back a vehicle driven by Kenn Sipe, 70, of Gage. The car Elston was driving then went into a northbound lane and collided with a vehicle driven by Gary Cordes, 60, of Minot, N.D. Elston and Cordes died at the scene. A 13-year-old passenger in Cordes’ car was flown to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Sipe was not injured.
One person is dead after two vehicles collided on Highway 47, west of Linns Mill Road early Sunday morning. Police say the driver of one of the vehicles has been identified as 17-year-old Gary French who was driving eastbound on Highway 47 when he collided with a school bus driving west. French was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the school bus, 27-year-old John Detjen, suffered minor injuries.
A 49-year-old man from Newark, Delaware is dead after a head-on crash Saturday evening. David A. Christian died in the wreck at 7:26 p.m. on Sunset Lake Road south of Dayett Mill Road in Newark. Police say that, for an unknown reason, Christian's pickup truck crossed over the double yellow line and into the path of another pickup truck. Police say Christian was not properly restrained and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other pickup truck, 52-year -old Jeffrey Grayson of Newark, was properly restrained, police said.
