Joanne Howell, 77, killed in crash with semi truck on Faircrest St. SW in Perry Township on June 2.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a two vehicle crash that occurred on Monday at around 1:10 p.m. that left one person dead. The crash occurred on Faircrest St. SW west of Perry Dr. SW in Perry Township. Donald Johnson, 63, of Sherrodsville, Ohio was driving a 1997 International semi-tractor trailer traveling east on Faircrest St. Joanne Howell, 77, of Massillon was driving a 2008 Chrysler Sebring traveling west on Faircrest St. Howell's car went left of center and struck the semi in the left front. Howell was seriously injured and transported by Perry Township EMS to Aultman Hospital. She succumbed to her injuries was pronounced deceased. Howell was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. As a result of the impact approximately 100 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled on the roadway. Perry Township Fire department was also on scene and contacted the EPA and the Stark County HAZMAT crew to assist in the cleanup.
