Lowell teen dies after losing control of car, crashing into oncoming SUV

A Lowell high school senior, Dlouhy was set to graduate next month and was a member of the track and field team, according to district officials.
An 18-year-old Lowell high school senior died after he lost control of his car on Lincoln Lake Avenue and it collided with an oncoming SUV. Alexander Dlouhy was driving a Volkswagen Jetta north on Lincoln Lake Avenue, south of Three Mile Road, when the car crossed the center line about 7:30 a.m. Kent County sheriff's deputies said he tried to steer the car back into the northbound lanes, but lost control. The car collided with a southbound Ford Explorer. Dlouhy, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene. The driver of the SUV, 60-year-old John Lewis of Sheridan, was taken to Greenville's hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. Lewis was wearing a seat belt. Deputies said the crash happened after another driver, also traveling southbound, narrowly was able to avoid the Jetta when it crossed the center line. The driver of that car swerved off the road to miss the Jetta, but the Explorer could not avoid it. The Explorer struck the driver's side door of the Jetta. What every family needs to know about wrongful death claims When a person dies as the result of a car, truck, bicycle, pedestrian, or other kind of accident, family members must deal with the tragedy as best they can. Many decisions need to be made, and a wrongful death claim needs to be filed. In Michigan, a claim can be filed by certain family members, but there are strict requirements and deadlines that must be met. It is crucial to speak with a Michigan personal injury attorney to get necessary information and advice.
