Marie Joseph, 60, killed and Olivio Lucas, 28, injured in pedestrian crash with vehicle on Immokalee Road in Immokalee, Florida

The fatal collision occurred on Immokalee Road at around 4:45 a.m when a Toyota SUV was traveling south on Immokalee Road approaching Camp Keais Road.  Olivio Lucas, 28, was walking along the road when the SUV hit Lucas and then swerved off the road.  The SUV overturned and crashed into a tree. The driver of the SUV, Marie Joseph, 60, was pronounced deceased. Lucas was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

James Streeter, Collier County Sheriff's Office Deputy, allegedly crashes patrol car while looking at laptop screen on Golden Gate Parkway in Collier County, Florida

James Streeter was driving east on Golden Gate Parkway when he got a call on his laptop, and glanced at the laptop screen to clear the call. When he looked up traffic had stopped and he slammed on his brakes. He swerved off the road and struck a street light, knocking the pole over. The crash is currently under TARB investigation which has not been completed yet. Streeter is facing no citations or tickets for distracted driving even though the investigating deputy marked in the crash report that Streeter was distracted.

Alejo Vasquez, 23, seriously injured in bicycle accident on Lake Trafford Road in Collier County, Florida

Bicyclist Alejo Vasquez, 23, was injured Thursday after he was hit by a vehicle in Collier County and taken to Lee Memorial Hospital, according to law enforcement officers. A vehicle was traveling east on Lake Trafford Road when Vasquez crossed Lake Trafford Road into the vehicle's path, according to an Florida Highway Patrol report. No further details of the collision or the bicyclist's condition are available at this time.  

Adan Garcia, 45, killed in pedestrian accident on US-41 in Naples, Florida

A man was hit and killed by a truck in Naples Saturday night on US-41 at 6:28 p.m.  45-year-old Adan Garcia was walking in the eastbound lane of US-41.  A Ford truck driven by Juan Ramirez, 37, struck Garcia, who was flung into the grass shoulder of US-41, where he died from his injuries.  Law enforcement officers say Garcia had alcohol in his system. 

Crystal Olvera, 25, killed in pedestrian accident with hit-and-run driver in parking lot near Winn Dixie in Immokalee

A 25 year old woman was killed by a hit and run driver in a shopping center parking lot Sunday. Crystal Olvera, 25 of Immokalee, Fl. was walking north in the parking lot of Winn Dixie on Lake Trafford Road. A vehicle approached the area in which she was crossing, and Olvera tried to avoid being hit, but the front of the vehicle struck her. The driver then left the scene. Kristen Zocchi, 26, and Walter Jose Rosales Mejia, 32, killed and one passenger Vanessa Vernaza Hernandez, 31, injured in wrong-way car accident on I-75 at Alligator Alley, Naples, Florida

Two people were killed early Friday morning after a head-on collision involving a wrong-way driver along I-75 at Alligator Alley near mile marker 85. Kristen Zocchi, 26, from Estero, died, after her vehicle traveled the wrong-way on Alligator Alley. Walter Jose Rosales Mejia, 32, of Tampa died after his 2006 Mazda collided head-on with Zocchi's vehicle. Both were pronounced dead at the crash site. Everyone involved in the crash was wearing a seatbelt.

Alexander Altieri, 88, dead after box truck accident on SR-82 in Immokalee, FL

According to Florida Highway Patrol, a Mercedes Marquis was going west on SR-82 just past Gator Slough Lane.  At the same time, a box truck was going east on SR-82 approaching Gator Slough Lane. The driver of the Mercedes was trying to pass a semi and entered opposing traffic.  The driver of the box truck tried to avoid a collision and steered to the right.  However, the left front side of the Mercedes struck the left front side of the box truck -- causing the Mercedes to go off the south side of the roadway.  The Mercedes stopped after the top of the vehicle hit a tree.

Larry Glazer and Jane Glazer, both 68, dead after their plane headed from Rochester, NY to Naples, FL crashed near Jamaica

The plane became unresponsive and kept flying out over the Atlantic Ocean. Two fighter jets were dispatched to escort the plane but had to leave as it entered Cuban airspace. Investigators believe the cabin of the plane may have been depressurized, leaving the Glazers unconscious.

A Florida woman is facing DUI and drug possession charges after she was involved in a crash just two days after she was released from a detox facility, authorities said.

Briana Mary Donaghy, 19, was arrested early Sunday on one count of DUI, five counts of DUI property damage/personal injury and one count of marijuana possession, according to a Florida Highway Patrol arrest report.

Donaghy rear-ended a Dodge Charger while driving her Mercedes, sending both cars into some shrubbery on the shoulder of a road in Marco Island, the report said.
