A pedestrian was struck and killed in Pinole on Thursday evening by a suspected drunken driver who also collided head-on with another car, police said Friday. A Contra Costa County coroner’s deputy identified the pedestrian as 25-year-old Diego Garcia of Pinole. Police said Garcia was struck and killed while walking on a sidewalk on Appian Way near Marlesta Road at about 6:10 p.m. Thursday. A 32-year-old El Sobrante woman was driving north on Appian Way when she lost control of her car and crashed head-on into a car in a southbound lane, according to police.

Four people were injured in a suspected DUI crash in Oceanside. The incident occurred on westbound state Route 76 near Canyon Drive on Friday evening. A Oceanside police Lt. stated that the driver of a Honda SUV was under the influence when he crashed the vehicle into a freeway sign pole. The driver was hospitalized with minor injuries and was then taken to jail. Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to rescue three passengers from the wreckage. Two women were airlifted to Scripps Memorial Hospital. The third passenger, a man, was taken by ambulance to Palomar Medical Center.

A snowmobiler crashed into a tree on a trail in Kansasville Thursday night, leaving the driver unconscious with serious head injuries, according to a release from the Racine County Sheriff's Office. The incident occurred about 11:30 p.m. near the intersection of Highway 11 and Highway 75. The driver, who was wearing a helmet, missed a curve, went off trail and was ejected toward the tree. He had to be flown to Froedtert Hospital via Flight for Life. Speed and alcohol were believed to be factors.

Houston police arrested a woman Thursday morning after officers said she drove the wrong way on the road and crashed into a patrol car. Officers said that woman was driving on Almeda around 12:45 a.m. Thursday when she turned down the wrong side of the road and started driving against traffic. An officer traveling in those lanes saw the driver and tried to avoid her. The woman ended up clipping the back of the police car. She then lost control and drove into a large ditch on the side of the road. No one was injured in the accident.

A driver, suspected off being under the influence, lost control of their vehicle crashed in front the Cliff House in San Francisco Thursday morning. The roads were slick with rain but police said it was probably the suspected drinking of the driver that caused a single-vehicle collision. The driver of an Silver BMW SUV drove down Point Lobos Avenue but failed to negotiate the turn at the Cliff House plowing over a sign post, smashing though a parked pickup truck and demolishing a concrete planter before finally coming to rest in front of the building.

A Depew man was charged with violating Leandra’s Law after a deputy discovered him impaired by drugs while he was driving with two children in his car, the Erie County Sheriff’s reported. A deputy responded to an accident involving two vehicles on Main Street at Sandridge Road in Alden about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday. During his investigation, the driver of one of the vehicles, David Wilczak, 30, admitted he had been using heroin that day, but he refused to submit to a blood test, according to the deputy. Wilczak had two children, ages 5 and 9, in his vehicle at the time of the accident.

A woman believed to have been drinking and two children in her care were hospitalized late Wednesday after being hit by a car while jaywalking in El Cajon. The accident was reported just before 11 p.m. on Jamacha Road at Lexington Avenue, a El Cajon police Lt. said. The 22-year-old woman from El Cajon said she was the godmother to the girls, ages 2 and 4-years-old, police said. All three suffered minor injuries. The 59-year-old man who was driving the SUV that struck the trio stopped. He was not injured and not cited, police said.

An Anderson woman was injured Wednesday morning after a snowmobile she was on crashed. Police say the driver was drunk. Indiana conservation officers responded to the 20400 block of Creek Road in Noblesville for a crash around midnight Wednesday. Upon investigation, police say Joel Hackleman, 42, of Noblesville, was driving the snowmobile and drove into a ditch. Hackleman was ejected. His passenger, Rebecca Benson, 32, was over the handlebars of the vehicle. Benson was taken to St. Vincent Hospital for a serious leg injury.

A motorist from Jefferson died Monday night from injuries he received in a three-pickup-truck crash on Louisiana 25 near Folsom, authorities said. A driver from Mount Hermon was booked with vehicular homicide, DWI and improper lane usage. The victim was identified by State Police as Gary White, 66. He died at LSU Interim Public Hospital in New Orleans. The other drivers were not injured, police said.

Two Irving Police officers escaped injury Tuesday night after a woman driving the wrong way at high speeds hit them along State Highway 161. Irving officers were notified around 11:20 p.m. that a woman was driving the wrong-way – travelling south in the northbound lanes of the turnpike near State Highway 114. While one group of officers pursued her at speeds of up to 80 miles per hour in the southbound lanes, another officer approached the suspect in the northbound lanes and was struck by the woman’s SUV near Conflans Road in Irving.
