A 4-year-old boy was seriously injured Sunday after being run over by a car while riding his bicycle.

The child suffered a dislocated left hip, broken right femur and fractured left fibula and tibia, but his injuries are not considered life-threatening. He is being treated at Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn.

Police said the accident happened about 6:30 p.m. in the alley behind the 900 block of Oakland Avenue.

The child was riding out of a driveway into the alley when he was hit by a 1999 Ford Taurus driven by Mykala K. Robinson, 21.

An 8-year-old girl died Tuesday evening when a minivan collided with a semi-truck on Route 53.

Madison Frost was riding in the third row passenger seat of a white 2010 Dodge Caravan being driver by her mother, Tina Frost, 36, of Crest Hill, Police Chief Fred Hayes said. Maria Frost, 15, a 20-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman also were riding in the Caravan.

Multiple people were injured in a crash involving a tanker truck Thursday morning on Interstate 394 near south suburban Crete.

The crash involving a tanker truck and a passenger vehicle happened about 7 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the interstate near Burville Road, according to the Illinois State Police.

Police said there were injures in the crash, but further details were not immediately available.

I-394 is closed south of Exchange Avenue, and no traffic is allowed on Burville Road between the interstate and Cottage Grove Avenue, police said.

At least 20 vehicles were involved in a crash that shut down northbound I-57 near Peotone between Manhattan-Monee Road and Wilmington-Peotone Road, officials said.

Several semis are involved, Illinois State Police said, and one vehicle may be trapped underneath a semi. Emergency crews brought in extrication equipment and requested heavy cranes.

Officials have not said what caused the crash, but low visibility was reported through the Chicago area on Thursday afternoon.

One person was killed and three others were hurt in a head-on crash involving a Pace bus Wednesday morning in southwest suburban Romeoville, police said.

The three-vehicle crash involving two cars and a Pace bus happened about 9:10 a.m. at Renwick Road and Rankin Drive, police and fire officials said.

A Kia Rio traveling eastbound on Renwick Road crossed into the westbound lanes and hit the Pace Bus head-on, Romeoville police said in a release. The Kia then hit a Ford Fusion.

Three separate crashes involving seven vehicles on a one-mile stretch of I-55 closed northbound lanes of the expressway for about two-and-a-half hours during the morning rush Monday near southwest suburban Channahon.

Traffic was diverted from northbound lanes of I-55 between Bluff Road and U.S. 6 about 8:15 a.m. while police worked to clear three separate crashes that caused "several" injuries around 7:45 a.m.

No one died in any of the crashes, but at least two people were injured, police said. The left lane of the expressway was reopened about 10:15 a.m.

A man was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday in southwest suburban Manhattan. The 2003 Honda Pilot went off the road near Route 52 and Cedar Road a few minutes after 3 a.m. and rolled over multiple times, ejecting the driver, according to Illinois State Police. The man, whose age was not immediately available, was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The driver was the only occupant of the SUV and no one else was injured, police said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation early Saturday.

All lanes of Interstate 80 near LaGrange Road were shut down to traffic Saturday morning after a semi-truck tipped over, police said.

Multiple vehicles were involved in the accident on the eastbound side of the highway, which happened about 10 a.m. between LaGrange and the Interstate 355 exits, according to Illinois State Police.

Eastbound and westbound lanes were still shut down at 11:30 a.m. as HazMat crews worked to clear the scene.

It was not immediately known what the semi-truck was carrying.

No injuries were reported as of 11:30 a.m., police said.
