Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a crash that killed a Patchogue man last evening.

Timothy Miller, 39, was crossing North Ocean Avenue, just south of Peconic Street, in Holtsville, when he was struck by a 2013 Nissan Sentra that was driven by Molly Silvestre, 20, of Selden, at 10:03 p.m.

Miller, of Patchogue, was treated at the scene by members of the Holtsville Fire Department and transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where he was being treated for head and chest injuries. He later died at the hospital.

Eastbound Interstate 10 has been reopened after a deadly hit-and-run crash Monday night.

A pickup truck, driven by Randall Wayne Owens, 54, was speeding down the Ray Road ramp onto eastbound I-10 when the driver swerved to avoid a slow moving car, an Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman said.

That maneuver somehow caused a woman, later identified as Celia Ester Owens, 44, riding in the truck who was not wearing a seat belt to be ejected, and she was struck by another pickup, the spokesman said.

A man was killed and another injured after being thrown from a motorcycle near Sidney on Monday night.

The incident occurred at 10:25 p.m. near the intersection of County Road 350 and Holly Street, according to Montana Highway Patrol officials.

The 29-year-old driver and 31-year-old passenger were both from Sidney.

The motorcycle was southbound on County Road 350, when it drifted into the westbound shoulder on a straight stretch of road, officials said.

Two men were killed early Monday in Sonoma County when a Honda Civic broadsided a power pole, apparently after the driver fell asleep, authorities said.

At 2:45 a.m., the driver failed to negotiate a right-hand curve on northbound Petaluma Hill Road, north of Hunter Lane, and slammed sideways into a power pole, ejecting the right rear passenger into the roadway and splitting the vehicle in two, said the California Highway Patrol.

A Hampton man was seriously injured Monday in an accident in Kingston.

Police said Frank Shedd, 60, was riding a motorcycle southbound on Route 125 when the driver of a pickup truck, Jeffrey Dalton, 20, of Groveland, Mass., made a left-hand turn in front of Shedd.

Shedd suffered serious injuries and was taken to a Boston hospital for treatment. There is no word on his condition.

Dalton was taken to Exeter Hospital as a precaution.

Police said the crash is still under investigation.

A Hammond man died on Monday when the dump truck he was driving veered off the road and into a ditch, then went airborne and crashed into a tree.

Officials identified the driver as 22-year-old Will E. Wright, Jr..

A Louisiana State Police investigation found that the 2001 Mack 18-wheeler, which was hauling gravel, was headed south on La. Hwy. 37, near Stoney Point Birch Road, when Wright allowed the vehicle to leave the highway.

The accident happened about 9 a.m. in East Baton Rouge Parish.

Two high school students from Torrance are among three people killed in a crash on the 101 Freeway in Santa Barbara. A fourth person was critically injured.

The accident happened around 12:45 a.m. Monday on the 101 Freeway near Castillo Street. The California Highway Patrol says a 2005 red Mazda was traveling southbound when the driver veered to the right and hit a section of the guardrail. The impact caused the car to overturn and block the #2 lane.

A motorcyclist was killed Monday on Interstate 70 when he lost control of his bike and fell under the rear wheels of a tractor-trailer.

The crash happened at about 11:20 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of the highway between Airport and Tower roads, said Lt. Jeff Turner, an Aurora Police Department spokesman.

The highway was closed until about 5 p.m. for the investigation.

An early morning accident closed both directions of Lake Mead Boulevard near Pecos Road Monday. The crash occurred shortly after 4 a.m.

Police say a motorcycle with two people on it and a vehicle were traveling eastbound on Lake Mead, when they collided. The male driver of the motorcycle sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The 32-year-old female passenger on the motorcycle was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition.

A 90-year-old Franklin County man is dead after his car was hit by a tractor-trailer near Washington.

The Missouri Highway Patrol identified the driver as Raymond Kastendieck. The Washington Missourian reports that the crash happened Monday afternoon on State Route 47.

Kastendieck’s 2004 Dodge Stratus collided with the tractor-trailer after the elderly driver lost control of his car, which struck a guardrail and then crossed into the opposite lane.
