Phoenix, AZSix teenagers were in critical condition following a three-car chain reaction crash on U.S. 60 at Gilbert Road Thursday afternoon, Mesa fire officials said.
All the teens were in a vehicle that was stalled in the emergency lane when it was hit from behind by a van, fire authorities said.
One other vehicle was involved in the smash-ups.
The half dozen injured patients are between the ages of 17 and 19, according to first responders. The full extent of their injuries was not known.

Oklahoma City, OKA man is in critical condition and a woman is arrested after an early-morning car wreck in Moore, police said. Officers rushed to a neighborhood off North Janeway Avenue and NW 2nd Street a little after 4 a.m. to find a man seriously injured. Police say the man was rolling a tire in the middle of the road when he was hit, and was thrown 200 feet. The victim's friend says he was visiting his girlfriend and helping to fix a car. According to police, alcohol was involved. Police say a female passenger fought with officers and slipped out of her handcuffs. She was arrested on multiple charges.

Los Angeles, CAOne person is dead after a crash on the Northbound 405 freeway in Gardena early Sunday morning.
A woman in her early 20's, later identified as Stephanie Hernandez Valerio, 21, and a man were pushing their disabled car on the NB 405 just north of the Harbor (110) Freeway when the woman was struck by a car that came up behind them, the California Highway Patrol Officer said.
Paramedics arrived on scene and declared the woman dead. It was not immediately known if alcohol played a role in the incident but speed was a factor, officials said.

Saturday, April 12, 2014Mississippi authorities are searching for the driver in a hit-and-run accident resulted in the death of a Gordo man early Sunday.
Mississippi Highway Patrol officers believe that Cason Park, 25, had experienced car trouble and was walking on the side of U.S. Highway 82 at when he was struck, said police. The driver left the scene, which happened at 4 a.m. in Oktibbeha County.
Officers found a disabled Chevrolet Impala registered to one of Park's family members about a quarter mile west from the site of the accident, police said.

Nashville, TNA child has died and his mother was hurt in a hit-and-run collision allegedly caused by a driver under the influence of alcohol or drugs in the westbound lanes of Interstate 24 in Smyrna on Thursday afternoon.
The crash was reported about 1:30 p.m. at mile marker 66, near Sam Ridley Parkway. The child, his mother and his sister were outside their car changing a flat tire when they were struck.
The suspected driver, identified as 33-year-old Tina L. Wilson, kept driving in a Chevrolet Cavalier after the collision, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Tuesday, April 1, 2014A motorist was injured fatally Wednesday when he pulled into the breakdown lane on Route 146 and got out of his vehicle, according to state police.
State police said the driver stepped into the first lane of traffic and was struck by a tractor-trailer. The man was pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital.
He declined to identify the victim, saying that officers were still trying to reach relatives. He said the truck driver was Michael Hammond, 45, of Warwick, an employee of UPS. No charges were contemplated, police said.
