A teenager died after a three-car accident on May 19 in Jackson, the Aiken County coroner said.

Tyler Cunningham, a Silver Bluff high school student, was pronounced dead Wednesday evening after succumbing to injuries suffered in a car crash near Highway 28 and Silver Bluff Road.

Cunningham was not at fault, not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle after it overturned, the coroner said.

Alcohol was likely a contributing factor in a Monday morning crash in which 24-year-old Erin Fast allegedly hit Robert Kahl, 40, with her car at the intersection of Northeast Revere Avenue and Division Street, according to a news release from Bend Police Lt. Nick Parker.

Fast, a Bend resident, was driving eastbound on Northeast Revere Avenue when her car hit Kahl, who was riding a bike. Kahl, also a Bend resident, was transported to St. Charles Bend, where he remains in critical condition.

Officials of a Topeka school district say a teenager who died in a traffic accident had received his diploma just hours earlier.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reports Ronnie Graham was alone in his pickup truck when it struck a tree on a residential street around 3:30 a.m. Monday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Graham had just finished his senior year at Seaman High School in Topeka. The school held its graduation ceremony on Sunday afternoon at the Kansas Expocentre.

A female victim wearing earphones was struck and killed Monday by an Amtrak train in San Leandro after a witness tried unsuccessfully to warn her of its approach, police said.

The victim, whose name and age weren't immediately released, was walking south along the east sidewalk of Hesperian Boulevard near Springlake Drive about 5:55 p.m. as a southbound Amtrak train was approaching, said San Leandro police Lt. Rick DeCosta.

Details are still emerging on a fatal crash that closed northbound Highway 41 near Excelsior Avenue Monday afternoon.

The California Highway Patrol first reported the crash involving a small vehicle and a big rig along Highway 41 near Laguna just before 5 p.m. this afternoon. Since then highway onramps at Laguna and Excelsior have both been closed, according to the CHP.

The CHP reports one fatality. No details have been provided on additional injuries.

Officials expect the highway will be closed for at least two hours.

The crash happened at the heavily trafficked intersection of Flatbush Ave. and Ave. U in Marine Park, Brooklyn.
Two people were killed and two others injured after a horrific car wreck in south Brooklyn on Monday evening, cops said.

An SUV collided with a second vehicle at the intersection of Flatbush Ave. and Ave. U in Marine Park about 6:38 p.m.

Austin McElyea, 17, also from Santa Clara, was fatally injured just after 5 p.m. Sunday when he was struck from behind by an ATV.

Accident scene investigators with the Utah Highway Patrol report that McElyea was traveling on Spanish Trail Drive when he stopped his dirt bike near 115 North. The driver of an ATV failed to stop, investigators said, and hit the back tire of McElyea's dirt bike.

Even though McElyea was wearing a helmet, he died on scene from injuries sustained in the impact.

New Orleans police said a 6-year-old child was killed in a fatal crash on Interstate 10 at the Morrison Avenue exit in New Orleans East.

According to police, a vehicle overturned at the exit about 12 p.m. All lanes on the road were closed. The roads reopened about 2 p.m.

According to police, a 36-year-old woman was traveling westbound on the interstate in a Chevrolet Suburban. After passing the Morrison Road exit, she lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn multiple times.

Cortney Sheilds, the 23-year-old Detroit man accused of driving the Dodge Charger that struck 8-year-old Kamari Smith on May 19 and then sped off, is now charged with second-degree murder. The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office added the charge Tuesday after it was learned that Smith succumbed to her injuries early Monday. Shields is also charged with reckless driving and failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing serious injury or death.

The 35-year-old man killed by a hit-and-run driver while walking along M-14 earlier this week has been identified in an online obituary as Evan Price O'Connor. Family members reached by phone Friday confirmed his identity, but did not wish to comment any further. Police were called to eastbound M-14 near the intersection of Barton Drive at 4:30 a.m. after receiving reports of a body in the median. Investigators believe O'Connor was the victim of a hit-and-run. No arrests have been made and police are still investigating.
